High Art

Up on the fourth floor of U of Houston is probably the highest art show you'll find in town (besides the soft-boiled fair on the top floor of the Williams Tower in the Galleria) The Daniel Radcliffe Dong Party was a good time last Friday, until UHPD decided to try and bust everyone. Cody Ledvina took the heat and kicked the Keystone Kops off the fourth floor; why would they try to bust an art show serving wine and beer? Are they unfamiliar with the concept? Anyway, I went back Sunday to catch some pics of the artwork, enjoy!

Thanks for the pics, Sean. It's pretty funny how it got alot bigger than intended, but I don't really have a problem, and I'm glad people showed up. It's about time the UH studios open themselves up more to the community. As far as I know, this is pretty much the first group to do this in a long time, and I think that's good for the School fo Art, and the scene in general. I'm lucky to be included in the group. I hope soon we can expand out though, and have some shows somewhere else.

i agree it was a little embarrassing...but really it was only meant to be a private friends-only party...not a show. I found out it was being advertised as a show about an hour prior to the "opening"...you need to give us more advance warning next time when you decide to turn our semi-private "parties" into public art events...and although not many people showed up in any case, it did put us in a bad light to anyone who did show up expecting to see some kind of planned show. and those few that did make the effort to come out probably won't be coming out next time.

p.s.- the works credited to cheyanne ramos should go to amye.

Thanks Sebastian, I thought that looked like Amye MacCarther's work.

It wasn't a private event when Cody said he was throwing an art show, and how are you embarrassed by it? If there were a few people who thought it wasn't up to par then they are allowed to make their own judgement- anonymous web posters too. I told Cody that I was going to send out emails about show- but I did not send any to media outlets, just to artists and art professionals.

Suck it up. It was cool.

The "head" sculpture is Cody Ledvina's as well, I believe.

I don't believe the event was embarrassing, or the work for that matter. It was on the spot, raw, spontaneous, live-art for the most part, and what else should an show-hopper expect from an exhibit that bills itself as the "Daniel Radcliff DONG party" [emphasis on DONG and PARTY]? Whoever showed up expecting a traditional wine and dine show missed the point completely. I had fun, good times, great oldies. Thanks again Sean for getting our names out there anyway.
