OPEN CALL FOR HOUSTON ARTISTS
Blaffer Gallery is now accepting submissions for the 2008 HOUSTON AREA EXHIBITION on view May 9-August 2, 2008. The exhibition is organized by Claudia Schmuckli, Curator, Blaffer Gallery, and will be accompanied by a fully-illustrated catalogue.
Artists over the age of 18 living within a 100-mile radius of Houston are invited to submit recent works that have not been previously exhibited in the Houston area. All media will be considered.
Please send a resume and up to twenty slides in a slide sheet or images on CD-Rom or DVD for consideration. Include a phone number and e-mail address on your resume. VHS tapes will not be accepted. Images must be labeled with artist's name, title, year of work, media, dimensions, and orientation.
Submissions should be addressed to Claudia Schmuckli, Curator, Blaffer Gallery, The Art Museum of the University of Houston, 120 Fine Arts Building, Houston, TX 77204-4018. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your application materials returned. E-mail submissions are accepted at cschmuckli@uh.edu.
There is no entry fee.
The deadline for submissions is November 15, 2007.
The 2008 Houston Area Exhibition is the tenth in a series of juried exhibitions hosted by Blaffer Gallery since 1974. Held every four years, the exhibition reflects the museum's commitment to showcasing the work of talented local artists. The exhibition is a unique opportunity, providing equal access for all artists in the Houston metropolitan area – established, emerging, and unknown – to have their work presented together in a museum setting.
