No Good News
In Dallas, as anywhere else in Texas, be careful knocking on strangers' doors. An incident a few years ago involving a teenage exchange student and a HPD cop was the most blatant example I've seen, but yesterday the keyboardist for Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians found out for himself... HERE. Read about the Texas "Castle Law" HERE.

Banned Around the World, Coming Back to the Armpit of Texas
Buffalo, New York's most famous musical product may be Rick James or Ani DiFranco, but the dark horse contender would be the death metal group Cannibal Corpse. Banned in Germany from performing or selling their albums, the band was lambasted in the 90s by Bob Dole along with Houston's Geto Boys and Miami's 2 Live Crew. Next Saturday the Meridian will be swarming with metalheads!

Waste some time on your Labor Day and enjoy the lounge singer version of "Rancid Amputation" by Australian talk show host Andrew Hansen...

Black Cat Bone- Burning the Flesh Off Modern Art

This self-taught New Orleans artist weighs in on aesthetic and political issues with long passages and a promiscuous use of Youtube, his blog features titles like "John Edwards Is A Subprime Subhuman Prick That Profits Off The Misery Of The People Of New Orleans",
"Never Underestimate The Power Of A Cute Young Blond White Trash Girl To Commit Murder And Get Away With It In The Commonwealth Of Virginia" and
"SpongeBob SqaurePants (Blake Gopnik) and Squidward Tentacles (Philip Kennicott) cover System of a Down's Lonely Day for the premiere of the Washington Post's exciting new Style & Arts section"; guaranteed to give journalists hissy fits.
I found Black Cat Bone while searching for any media coverage on the death of Houston graff writer MUNIK, who was run over by a New Orleans police officer. The title "Houston Graffiti Artist Commits Suicide By Cop In The Suburbs Of New Orleans" gave me pause, but his insight is, understandably, linked to the cultural issues already swirling in the gumbo of Louisiana tensions and cynically level-headed. To quote his final thought out of context the statement may seem like a given, but don't forget- this is in response to NOPD running over a 16 year old suspect with an SUV.
then can we at least agree that it's not too much to expect them
to not recklessly take the life of a adolescent graffiti artist for no reason?"
Really? At the CAMH?
