Woman Bending Over, Alverson, 2009
Eric Zimmerman (back on the interwebs) takes on Seth Alverson's hilarious work at the Lawndale right now:
The people that call Alverson’s paintings home are a kind of ‘”everyman“. Personalities that we all identify with on some level and have the unfortunate luck, in some cases, of being caught in less than flattering moments. The situations are hilarious. A woman in small green athletic shorts bends over and reveals the “cottage cheese” on the back of her thighs. Exquisitely painted, the legs are repulsive, humorous, and absolutely beautiful all at once.
