"Though exhibitions focusing on design are popping up everywhere, the context in which a new one in Houston, Texas appears, marks a significant development."
Oh, the best in the world is on craigslist, but so is the worst... what do you think of this?
Are you creating art but no one is responding? Are you trying to get a show and don't know where to start? You want to approach a gallery but don't know how. Maybe you have taken some art classes and can draw well but don't know what to do next.
I have been a professional artist for 10 years. After finishing art school with all the abilities they instill, I had no idea how to succeed as an artist. In the past decade, I have attended numerous workshops, lectures, and classes, and read every book I could on the subject. Then I went out to the real world and applied my new knowledge. Some of it worked, some of it didn't. Trial and error are very valuable, especially if you can benefit from someone else's error.
With a healthy business background and art talent, I have been successfully marketing and more importantly selling my art. What I'm doing is not rocket science. Anyone can do it. You just need to know the steps and walk the path. I can help you.
I am offering my services to any artist who is not happy with their current level as a professional artist. I can help with the following areas:
-Portfolio review -CV (Resume, Statement, and Bio) writing -Marketing you art -Getting organized -How to approach a gallery -How to sell your work -How to live your dream
It's working for me, why not have it work for you.
Contacting me is the first step toward success.

Ha ha... while Candy Crowley was speaking in front of Clinton headquarters in New York, her image came up on the screen behind her and the crowd went wild watching her announce to them their feelings after winning New Jersey. A perfect mise en abyme.
Funny thing is, right after that they went to Obama headquarters- the crowd, upon seeing the back of their heads on the big screen, turned around and cheered behind the reporter Jeffrey Toobin into the camera.
How can I twist this to my own political will?
Go Obama! At least your supporters are looking in the right direction!
Last night I saw on the little crawl at the bottom of the screen on CNN that Pimp C's death was ruled both "accidental" and "as a result of codeine cough syrup and sleep apnea". Now, I understand the LA Times and the BBC writing about it with a bit of befuddled clinicality, but the news will probably go over everyone's head if they miss Kristie Rieken's article in the chron today.
"The abuse of codeine-laced cough syrup is so prevalent in Houston that the city has been nicknamed "The City of Syrup" and Pimp C often rapped about using the drug recreationally..."
[The doctor] also said people who are obese are at increased risk for sleep apnea. Pimp C was 5 feet 11 inches tall and 261 pounds..."
"Houston has dealt with an epidemic of the illegal use of cough syrup for several years. In 2006, four local pharmacists were found guilty of drug conspiracy for selling more than 2,500 gallons of it to people without prescriptions.
DJ Screw, who popularized Houston's slowed-down hypnotic style of rap, died of a heart attack in 2000 after a reported overdose of codeine-laced cough syrup. Rapper Big Moe, who rapped obsessively about the drug, died in October of a heart attack.
Though the glamorization of the drug has been a staple in rap throughout the South for years, some in the area were growing tired of its influence.
"I know I'm running the risk of sounding 'preachy' ... but I'm starting to hate everything that 'syrup' stands for," Houston rapper Chamillionaire said in a blog attributed to him in October."
Habitual syrup sippin' will not only get you hooked on the stuff, but unlike heroin it tends to make you gain weight, which causes sleep apnea. No way out of that one. RIP PIMP C RIP FAT PAT RIP RIP BIG MOE RIP DJ SCREW

Robyn gave me a call in the afternoon, seems like Howard Stern doesn't like thievery. Eh, to each his own. I took down the pic.
So we talked about her racy photos (not so racy) and the big Texas reaction to it all. Hell, it was up on Modern Art Notes today. The first post HERE and the glasstire article sure had a bunch of comments.
I want to ask artists now what they do with their little obsessions that just add to life without being critiqueable 'art'. Why are some hobbies, like Robert Mapplethorpe's S&M or Andy Warhol's antiquing, considered part of their oeuvre while going to baseball games or playing in a death metal band (you know who you are) aren't?
